Spring season: This year Spring season has been delayed in Kashmir Valley due to prolonging of winter. Last week of March and the first week of April 2014 witnessed frequent rains. There have been some water-logging incidences in Srinagar city too. However, weather is expected to clear towards the end of the first week of April. Blossoms have already made an appearance. Famous tourist place, Badamvaer, has bloomed with blossoms marking the beginning of the season. Travellers with immediate plans are informed to carry some warm/moderate clothes as well.
Gulmarg: On 30March, it was still snowing in Gulmarg. Light and moderate snow was witnessed at several pockets in Gulmarg. The roads, though clear were bit spoilt with the snow and rains and slackened the travel. There is almost 3-4 feets of snow at Gulmarg in the lower reaches. Appropriate wear like Jackets and Boots are required.
Tulip Garden: The famous Tulip Garden, situated on the bank of Dal Lake will officially be open to public towards the end of the first week. At this famous garden one can get to see about 1.5 million tulips of some 80 varieties. It is located on the Zabarwan Range and spreads over 15 hectares. Nearest attractions include Botanical Garden, Cheshmashahi, Parimahal and Shankaracharya Temple.
